Friday Five Live on Wired FM
Friday Five Live is a magazine radio show set up by my four friends and I. The show is on every Friday at 1 pm on 99.9 FM. There are three hosts, Isabel Downes , Kate Maguire and Elise Griffin. Caitriona Finn and Ceri O’Toole work behind the scenes on their social media and help with the script writing. The five of us were put into a group for an assignment in second year and that is how to the idea for the show was created.
The show is broken into five segments; Limerick Legends, Things that make us tic, reeling in the years, whats trending and kiss or miss. Limerick legends is everything from the beours to the feens to everything in between. We talk about the brilliant characters and slangs and sayings of Limerick city. Things that make us tic is a segment of the show where we talk about whats bothering us this week and what we want to get off our chest. Realing in the years takes us back in time. We look back at our memories from our childhood and awkward teen years. As our show is a magazine show, we discuss whats trending in pop culture and entertainment news at the moment. To end the show we play a little game called kiss or miss. We head over to our Instagram @fridayfivelive and post a poll. Five pictures of celebrities or characters are posted on our Instagram with the poll kiss or miss. We then discuss the results and our opinions on the characters. Click here to tune into their radio show every Friday at 1 pm! Be sure to check them out.

The five of us met in the first semester of second year. One of our assignments for media was to create a ten minute broadcast on any topic of our choice. We based our show on youth culture in Limerick city. The five of us were put into a group and our friendship grew from there. We interviewed Mark Carey from Steamboat Quay Record Store and Gracie, the owner of Spice Vintage. During the live broadcast, we spoke about Lucky Lane, Chez le Fab, Duo and gigs in King Johns Castle.
