Chatting about all things media in MIC
I interveiwed Robyn Flanagan, a fourth year media student. She is the public relations officer of MIC Feed, the new online magazine for students in Mary I. We chatted about MIC feed and the show she hosts on wired FM.
Mic Feed is a new online magazine set up by a group of fourth year media students. They set up this new online magazine to give a voice to the students. The articles are written by the students. Robyn describes the magazine as “Mary I’s voice.” They keep students up to date about what is happening around the college and write about their own experiences in Mary I. Their most popular section is ‘Tales from abroad’. This is a section of the magazine where students write about their experience with studying abroad. It gives students an insight into what studying abroad is really like. Click here to head over to their blog. Be sure to check it out!
She also hosts a radio show on Wired Fm, the student radio station in Mary I. It is a lunchtime magazine show that she does with both of her friends. They play the latest hits and talk about trending topics. All three of them have different opinions so it adds diversity to the show. I asked Robin if she previously had been on the radio as she was very natural and confident when I interviewed her. She said that she used to host a show called ‘Airplay’ with her friend Emerald Kenny in first and second year. Emerald is now the president of MIC Feed. ‘Airplay’ was a show to promote Irish music. From her three years on Wired Fm, it is clear to see she has a real passion for radio and media.
